Silver Novelty Bell Shaped Inkwell. 1919.

Description

This handsome sterling silver novelty inkwell which is designed as a bell has a hinged lid which when lifted reveals a fitted ceramic inkwell, is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1919 and is made by A & J Zimmerman.

This inkwell would make a great collector's piece for an inkwell collector or a lovely unusual gift.

Material: Solid silver.

Date: 1919.

Maker: A & J Zimmerman.

Hallmarked: Fully hallmarked with Lion for sterling silver. Anchor for Birmingham, date letter u for 1919 and with the maker's mark for Zimmerman. The inside of the lid is hallmarked for sterling silver, date letter u and a registered design number 638948.

Size:

Height - 6.5 cm (2 1/2").

Diameter - 6 cm (2 1/4").

Total weight: 99 grams.

Condition: Very good antique condition with only light signs of use in keeping with age. A few tiny dings and light marks. The ceramic inkwell is in excellent condition and is fixed in place so cannot be removed.
