In China, the blossoming cherry tree has strong symbolic meaning, representing feminine beauty, dominance and love. Similarly, in Japan, the cherry tree known as Sakura, also has strong symbolic meaning. In the short blossom period festivals are held under the falling trees and it is believed that every falling blossom is a metaphor of a fallen warrior.
