Description

A handsome and very unusual pair of smaller sized binoculars complete with their original case.

They are not signed by the maker, across the bridge they are engraved "8 Lens".

Both the case and leather which is wrapped around the binoculars are embossed to emulate Crocodile or Alligator skin, and a lovely cognac colour.

The shaped eye pieces are lovely and always very sought after and rarely found; you can see once opened up the columns are nickel, I love the combination of the silver and gold coloured metals.

Excellent working condition measuring 4 1/2" x 2" x 3 3/4" extending to 4 7/8"; the case is lined in silk, the original owner had written their name and address on the underside of the lid. The case has wear commensurate with age. The case measures 5 1/4" x 2 3/4" x 4 1/2".

Dating to c.1900 and English in origin.
