Antique silver Omega pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 4,672,455 dates it back to the mid 1910s. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some unevenness.

The watch measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London 1916, together with the importer's mark for the company "Selling Agency", first registered with the London Assay Office in 1907. This London based company imported both silver and gold watches and was actually a subsidiary of Dimier Brothers. This mark is sometimes seen inside Omega cases, as per the example we have here, and it seems that Selling Agency was founded with a view to handling the import and hallmarking of Omega watches (from 1907 when new import restrictions were put in place).

The front and sides of the watch are in good condition. The hinged case back has unevenness and surface marking.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has a short faint hairline between 12 and 1 and a small nibble to the very edge, mostly covered by the bezel, but otherwise is in good condition. Original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with single silver chain, 21.5cm long.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
