Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Masons Ironstone was patented in Staffordshire in 1813 as a durable alternative to porcelain. The hard-paste earthenware body was fired at high temperatures and decorated with rich Japan or Imari motifs, featuring cobalt blue, rust red, and gilded embellishments.

Ironstone is composed of clay mixed with ground slag and flint, producing a heavy ceramic body. Decorators applied underglaze transfer prints or hand-painted enamels, followed by overglaze gilding finished with heat firing.

Authentic pieces feature printed or impressed maker marks on the underside, such as Masons Patent Ironstone China. Characteristics include a distinct blue-grey tint to the ceramic glaze, substantial physical weight, and hand-applied enamel decoration.

Miniature items can be arranged within glazed display cabinets, stacked on book towers, or grouped together on decorative trays. Pairing rich Imari patterns alongside neutral ceramics highlights the vibrant gilding and cobalt colours.

Wipe surfaces gently with a soft dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive sponges, or immersion in water, as these processes can degrade overglaze gilding and delicate enamels.
