Rare Antique Brass Mounted Oak Cribbage Box - Book Form

Description

A most unusual Victorian (ca. 1880) book shaped playing card box with room inside for two decks of card and a central section created for keeping four cribbage pegs (cards and pegs not present, but easily replaced).

The top is mounted with a quality white brass cribbage board, covering all four sides of the book. The central decorative mount is made from a complimentary yellow brass mount with attractive engraving and the three cards being reticulated and leather underneath, red under the hearts and diamonds and black under the clubs.

Excellent polished condition, some minor wear to the box, no damage, splits or chips. A wonderful find, measuring 8 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 2" thick.
