This painting is a fine example of the work of the popular French marine artist
Victor Charles Edouard Adam.
His family moved to Le Havre in 1873 where his father, Edouard Adam (1847-1929), who was a very accomplished ship painter, became a very successful ‘Pierhead Painter’.
Victor Adam was taught by his father and worked out of the same studio painting commissions for ship’s owners and captains.
-
The 'Wild Flower' is an interesting transitional steam and sail vessel.
-
The picture is very decorative and ready to hang.
Painting is in good condition. The canvas has been re-lined within the last 20 years and it has been recently professionally cleaned.
