Pair of William IV Old Sheffield Plate Wine Coasters, Circa 1835

19th century
Description

These very decorative decanter coasters have an eye-catching design. The everted sides applied with foliate scroll borders terminating in leafy flower buds. The turned fruitwood bases with a central silver button.

Condition:

Very good.

No base metal showing through, sit firmly, no wood distortion.

Replacement green baize at the bottom, probably replaced in the Victorian era.

Dimensions:

Maximum diameter: 18cm / 7 inches.

Height: 5cm / 2 inches.
