Antique Tooled Leather Sewing Box - Silks - Embroidery Panel

Description

I was told this box was a cord making kit, but I think this is box of original twisted silks used for sewing or perhaps embroidery, there is a superb pictorial embroidered panel to the back.

Made from a deep burgundy coloured leather, there is intricate gold embossed decoration to the back and front. The box is closed with the tab being placed under the band which is still intact but does have a rip which can be seen in one of the photographs.

Most unusual, and a wonderful addition to your antique sewing collection. Dating to around 1850, it remains in excellent condition and measures 5" x 3" when closed.
