Very near matching pair of Mid Victorian (circa 1840-1860) scroll back (ring turned to either side of the scroll) 'Oxford' chairs from the High Wycombe area, each marked differently, ring turning slightly different on each one.
Widely produced in the mid to late 19th century and often referred to as an ‘Oxford’ chair but made in numerous workshops by different craftsmen throughout Buckinghamshire and the region.
Patina, grain pattern and detailing to seat pads. Solid, no worm or rot/old repairs. Both marked to the rear of the seat pad.
