Antique Georgian Silver-lidded Box 1828

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a very useful Georgian sterling silver-lidded box.

Presumably originally designed as a pot pourri box with the open fretwork on the lid, it could have many uses today, perhaps on a desk or dressing table.

It is hallmarked inside the lid for London 1828, with the maker''s mark of Archibald Douglas. The heavy glass base has bevelled corners and is in perfect condition. The silver top is heavy and tactile, with the central grill and empty cartouche.
