George I Style Mahogany Bureau Bookcase

Description

A superb mahogany bureau bookcase of slender proportions in the George I style. Dating to circa 1880 and of fine construction in solid mahogany and attractive flame mahogany veneers. The top section with a shaped domed top surmounted by a crest, over a pair of glazed doors which open to access an interior with adjustable shelving. To the bottom is a pair of pull-out candle slides. The bureau with a fall which opens to reveal an interior fitted with a well, stationary compartments, a lockable cupboard and a secret drawer. This sits over an arrangement of 3 drawers, fitted with charming brass pull handles. All standing on imposing cabriole legs with carved detailing. Doors are lockable , keys supplied. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops to a very high standard. Now offered for sale in excellent overall condition with a wonderful colour and patina. Splits into two sections for ease of installation.
