Description

A fantastic example of an antique Victorian cutler’s stool from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Solid and sturdy as the day it was made, with fantastic colour and patina from years of use. These beautiful stools are unique to the Sheffield cutlery and silver industry and were made by the workers themselves from the late 18th Century onwards, this example dating from the 19th century. According to folklore the cutler would use the off-cut from their bench and fashion some legs to create their own work stool. These chairs are surprisingly comfortable and make great stools or are fantastic as lamp tables or occasional tables.
