Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Khamseh rugs were woven by the nomadic Khamseh Confederacy, a federation of five distinct tribal groups located in southwestern Persia near Shiraz. These textiles are recognized for their geometric compositions, stylized bird imagery, and saturated colour palettes derived from natural dyes.

Traditional Khamseh rugs were hand-knotted using locally sourced, hand-spun sheeps wool for both the pile and foundation. Dyes were extracted from natural organic materials such as madder root, indigo, pomegranate rinds, and local flora.

Authentic examples feature wool warps and wefts with hand-tied knots, often displaying characteristic stylized bird motifs, diamond medallions, and geometric border bands. The weave typically exhibits subtle line variations, known as abrash, reflecting small-batch dye lots on nomadic looms.

A tribal rug introduces geometric pattern and visual texture to neutral interiors, anchoring seating areas or placement beneath coffee tables. Combining historic hand-woven textiles with contemporary furniture creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating beater brush to protect the pile, and rotate the rug annually to balance foot traffic and light exposure. Professional hand-cleaning with pH-neutral wool cleansers is recommended when deep cleaning is required.
