Description

A spectacular mid-19th century LADY'S WRITING BOX in remarkably good original condition.

It is veneered in finest figured coromandel-wood and is beautifully inlaid with engraved brass, mother-of-pearl and abalone scrollwork. It opens to reveal the original velvet writing surface; pair of original inkwells and similar inlaid decoration all around the inside of the lid; all leading edges and to the three compartment lids. The interior is lined in best quality satinwood, with an inner (removable) satinwood tray. A lovely quality and impressive Writing 'Slope' in beautiful condition. 15ins (38cms) wide.
