Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Masons Ironstone china is a durable type of vitreous earthenware patented by Miles Mason in Staffordshire during the early 19th century. Developed to offer a strength comparable to porcelain, it became renowned for elaborate printed and hand-enamelled designs heavily influenced by Chinese and Japanese ceramics.

Ironstone ceramics were produced using a mixture of petuntse (cornish stone), china clay, flint, and slag. The heavy body was fired at high temperatures to achieve vitrification, after which cobalt blue glazes, polychrome enamels, and gilt details were applied.

Authentic pieces usually feature printed impressed or stamped makers marks underneath, such as Masons Patent Ironstone China. They are characterised by their substantial weight, opaque ceramic body, precise transfer outlines, and hand-painted enamel overlays.

A pair of decorative ironstone urns works effectively positioned symmetrically on a sideboard top or fireplace mantel piece. Their rich colours and complex patterns provide visual weight, creating a classical focal point within both traditional and transitional rooms.

Clean ironstone vessels using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp microfibre cloth with lukewarm water. Avoid immersion, harsh chemical detergents, or abrasive pads, as these can strip delicate overglaze enamels and gilding.
