Fine Set Three Antique English Graduated Serving Trays or Platters by Mappin and Webb

Description

A most unusual shape, this is a magnificent set of three graduated silver plated serving platters or trays, Octagonal in shape and signed by the very fine English silversmith's, Mappin and Webb of London and Sheffield.

They are lucky enough to also have an English design registration number (71552) which dates the design to 1888; however they are marked "Made In England" which indicates a 20th century manufacture, these I would date to c.1910, late Edwardian in era. They are also marked "Triple Deposit" and Prince's Plate.

Just back from our silversmith, having been professionally cleaned and polished the three trays are in superb condition ready for use. They measure as follows: Small: 12" x 9"; Medium: 15 1/2" x 11 1/2" and Large: 17 1/2" x 13".
