A Small Georgian Longcase by Henry Watts, Poole

Description

A small, well proportioned Dorset Georgian period Longcase clock. A good quality mahogany case with figuring to the trunk door and base. An arched hood pediment surmounted by 2 original gilded finials. Brass capped hood columns. A re-entrant moulded base panel. A 12" silvered brass dial with fine quality engraving. A seconds dial and date aperture. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. An old removal company's label to the case back 'Bournemouth'.

Henry Watts of Poole is recorded in Tribe & Whatmoor's 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of Dorset' book as working at 128, High Street from 1800-1839.
