In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The rear of the seat is engraved with the maker's initials "J.G".

The chair is approximately 29" (74cm) high and it is 28" (71cm) wide across the arms. The seat is 20" (51cm) deep and 16 1/2" (42cm) high.
It is in good condition and is a strong and sturdy chair. It has developed a nice aged patina over the years. The chair is not without a few small marks and signs of age and use but no major damages. There are a few old woodworm holes in a spindle which have all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected the chair structurally or aestehtically. The grain is wonderful and it displays very nicely. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
