A concept worldwide Jozef De Coene lived from 1875 to 1950 and was a master in the production of classy furniture. He was also recognized throughout the world as an exceptional manufacturer. The Kortrijk furniture grew into a household name thanks to a mix of exceptional design and quality.

A typical feature of the Belgian furniture production was that furniture was produced in the style of the time, but that an important production in the neo-European styles was always maintained. The furniture producers such as Jozef De Coene were so good that foreigners came to buy their own style furniture in Belgium. The French came to Belgium, in particular to De Coene, to buy their Louis XV, Louis XVI or Empire style furniture.
