Landscape Oil Painting By Charles Leaver Shaw (1853-1903)

A fine oil on canvas river landscape scene by Charles Leaver Shaw (1853-1903). A beautiful highland scene with a river falling over rocks and a clear blue sky. The painting is in excellent condition having been professionally cleaned. The work is signed to the lower right and inscribed on the reverse with the date of 1881. Charles Leaver Shaw was a well regarded Victorian landscape artist and exhibited between 1880-1898. The painting is framed in the original frame which has been later gilded and had some minor repair. The frame has a great slightly worn look that works brilliantly with the age of the painting. The whole is a good example of its type and ready to hang.
