Description
A charming and quite compact mid-19th century lady's fitted DRESSING & JEWELLERY CASE, in excellent condition and complete. The box is veneered in finely-figured walnut and inlaid with brass and pewter stringing with engraved brass escutcheons and brass edges. It opens to reveal the full set of seven bottles and jars (including pair of scent bottles) all with engraved hallmarked silver lids, and further opens to display the full set of tools and implements. A further compartment below holds the shoe-horn and within the lid is the concealed mirror. It is lined throughout in green leather, gilt-tooled, and matching ruched green velvet to the lid.
