George James Antiques has dated this Georgian Sterling Silver Tankard to the Georgian era.
The inscription to the cartouche is a touching testimony to the recipient for his generosity to the poor of Shipley Yorkshire. John Langlands (the silversmith) was only in partnership with John Goodrick from 1754 until 1757 on Goodrick's death, this makes this fine piece even more interesting.
