M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The golden yellow silk backing having suffered from some deterioration from age and perishing, yet the needle-work subject matter retaining good strong colours and condition.

The original carved giltwood and gesso rectangular moulded profile frame having some later gold overpaint . The glazed picture with an inner card slip surround. The reverse retaining its original backboards .

A fine example of English country-house decoration , probably completed by the lady of the house . An accomplished and skilfully-executed fanciful needlework study in charming 'as found' original condition.
