The scroll-over tops applied with turned paterae , the lateral splat-backs with carved leaf decoration.
The decorative 'Trafalgar' design of this chairs was fashionable after 1808 when the design was first published in the trade catalogue 'The London Chair-makers and Carvers Book of Prices Supplement'. The 'Trafalgar' chair's essential feature being the continuous curving line formed by the sides of the back , the seat rail and chair legs . The use of curved sabre type legs derived by an Ancient Greek chair style , and the use of the anthemion motif was a fashionable feature of the Greek revival style of the period.

Rare survivors in excellent original strong condition with no damage, breaks or repairs . The drop-in seats with recent tastefully re-covered seats in clean condition.
