Large Antique William IV Mahogany Leather Top Writing Table

Description

This large Antique William IV mahogany writing table is one of the best examples of this sort of thing that I have seen & it has some wonderful features. It has a hand coloured tooled leather writing surface with three drawers below & a polished finished back with three panels that correspond with the front drawers which have turned mahogany handles & locks. The solid mahogany legs have the classic William IV tulip design which is deeply carved in. The brass spoke casters are original & very special design. Please enlarge all the images to appreciate all these special features. This desk is in excellent original condition & dates to around the 1830-40’s period. I can’t spot a makers name stamped on this desk, although you would expect to find one because of the outstanding quality. However there is a Jewells & Co old label in one of the drawers.
