A fabulous silver and tortoiseshell lorgnette by Horton & Allday who traded between 1888..1933 specialising in boxes, cigarette case, dressing set, collectible items, matchbook holder, tray, vestas, etc. from Warstone Lane, Birmingham & Poland Street, London W1.
These would have been one of their first items made as it is hallmarked for 1888, the year they were founded.
Beautiful silver repousse and engraved work to both sides and in excellent condition with swiveling tortoiseshell framed spectacles, the frame to the spectacles has a break around one lens, repairable or replaceable. Crisp and clear hallmark.
Measurement full open end to end is 32cms, when folded 20cms,
