Description
A pretty pair of earrings from the late Victorian period, c1880s. The earrings have three beautiful cabochon garnets set in a trefoil design at the top and a lovely pear shape faceted garnet drop. The garnets are all set in closed back 'garnet gold' settings, which is an extremely low grade gold mixed with another metal (likely brass in this instance) that was used to set garnets during this period. At the centre of the trefoils is a gemstone, one is a diamond and the other is a white sapphire. The white sapphire is likely a replacement to the original diamond; the earrings came to me as they are. The hooks of the earrings are replacements to the originals and are marked with '375' to denote solid 9ct gold. Details: Materials - Garnets, Low Grade Gold, 9ct Gold Hooks Age - C1880s Size - The earrings measure approx 23mm long from the top of the trefoil to the base of the pear shaped drop. Condition - Very good Weight - 4.06g FREE SHIPPING on all orders over £100 Internal Ref: 3221
