Antique English Oak and Silver Plate Mechanical Desk Bell C.1890

Description

A handsome and most unusual desk or counter bell made from the winning combination of solid English Oak and silver plated fittings.

This mechanical bell is operated by fulling the knob at the front releasing which in turn releases the clapper within the bell to produce a bright and authoritative ring. The plate below the knob is marked (unknown to me) N bee symbol S, whether this is just for Nickel Silver or is the makers mark.

The Oak plinth sits on three original ball feet.

Excellent condition and ready to use measuring 6 1/2" in diameter x 7 1/2" tall. Late Victorian in era, dating to c.1890.
