A wonderful Victorian Games Compendium contained within a superb walnut case having a cross banded lid with applied mouldings, white metal mounts and a raised copper plaque of men watching a game of chess. The whole raised on a moulded plinth base with turned bun feet, the sides having unusual metal carrying handles.The lid lifts and reveals the contents which include a complete boxwood and ebony chess set, a set of turned draughts, a set of dominos, 2 folding games boards with inlaid detail for chess, backgammon and 2 other board games, various counters and dice plus 4 sets of coloured turnings. The tray lifts out to reveal a set of 4 turned counter wells and a dice shaker. Condition- Very good and ready for play with working lock and key. Dimensions:- Height Closed…9.5’’/ 24cm.
