Description

For sale is a top quality 19th century, English Regency Period mahogany concertina dining table. The top being made of beautifully figured solid mahogany, the table has three additional leaves allowing the table to extend to 90" when fully extended, seating 10 comfortably. When the leaves are removed they reveal the superb extending mechanism. Prior to the early 1800's there weren't many practical ways to extend a dining table, making the concertina one of the first forms of practical extending dining tables which was later replaced with pullout / pull-out and wind-out mechanisms. The table stands on six elegant writhe turned legs, terminating on original brass castors. The table is in good condition for its age, having only minor wear commensurate with age and use.
