Description

It is a pleasure to offer this very fine true Vienna regulator wall antique clock of three month duration made circa 1845 with a beautiful Mahogany and boxwood strung case which is in outstanding condition.
This particular clocks ranks amongst the finest I have ever seen in many years of searching and is genuinely of the quality and condition only normally seen in museums.
It is beautifully made and has very elegant and restrained proportions being a variation of the Dachluhr (rooftop) design .
Austrian antique clocks such as this are entirely hand made and finished by time served master clockmaker and should not be confused with the much cheaper mass produced German antique clocks.
Austrian clocks were only made for the most discerning customers (who could afford them) and took many months to complete individually.
Subsequently they are rare items and I have spent 30 years driving all over Europe to source these antique clocks, particularly the finer examples.
Unfortunately there are too many people selling modern reproductions to customers.
I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of my Vienna clocks.
I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever.
Obviously, any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase
As you can see from the photographs the mahogany veneers used are quite exceptional with outstanding figure and colour which is enhanced by contrasting boxwood string. The backboard is veneered in book matched flame mahogany. It is also of 6 light construction which was used in the earlier clocks. The architectural pediment is formed to run the entire depth of the case and has carved decoration with flat Corinthian capitals below. The opening door is rebated so as to prevent the ingress of dust and a key locking door
?The clock is longer than normal being 54 inches long , a maximum width of 13 inches and 6 inches deep .The width at the door is only 11 wide
?The superb hand made weight driven movement of three month day duration is beautifully made with the unusual feature of Geneve stop work and has been professionally serviced. It is ,of course, in perfect working order.
The skill required to make a movement of this duration is very high indeed subsequently it is very unusual indeed to find a clock that runs for this length of time in one winding
The pendulum itself is very nice , having a wood rod and a perfect brass backed bob.
?The movement is mounted into the case by means of wooden seat board. The 8 inch original silvered brass dial is in excellent condition and is surrounded by a very fine engine turned bezel .The steel hands are original .
The condition is outstanding and the finish is as good as I have seen.It is of the very finest quality and has wonderful colour. It is ready to hang straight on the wall .
The proportions are perfect and is worthy of gracing the wall of the most discerning collector.
The sides of the case are glazed with boxwood stringing .
The original winding crank is present. Hopefully the images will show show interested parties all they need to see but prospective buyers are very welcome to view.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh as my photographic skills are very poor.
If the buy it now price is paid in full I will ,deliver the clock free of charge in England ,Wales and the Scottish lowlands and provide a 12 months guarantee.
Should a lesser offer be accepted it will be a trade sale with the clock being sold as described and shipping costs being the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide .
