Puckerings has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The dishes are then replaced, the top one being pierced or reticulated to allow any grease to drain to the dish below.

The dish stands on four very impressive legs terminating in claw feet. The lid is beautifully decorated with an embossed frieze, hand chased.
The underside is signed by the London silversmith, Alexander Clark and the trademark stamped, "Welbeck Plate".
Dating to the late Victorian era, it remains in excellent condition spanning 13 3/4" handle to handle x 9 1/2" x 8" tall.
