Art Deco Solid Silver Salt and Pepper

1920 - 1940
Description

A fine example of a solid Sterling Silver salt and pepper set consisting of a pepper shaker, salt dish and salt spoon. They are stylish with a simple Art Deco inspired design, complete with unusual bakelite liners. The base of the liners stamped "PAT. No. 325841".

They are clearly hallmarked for Birmingham, Joseph Gloster Ltd. The pepper and spoon are dated 1936 and the salt is dated 1937.

They are in good condition and display beautifully. There are some faint surface marks and a few light scratches and small dinks but nothing detrimental. They have been gently cleaned and polished and are ready for use.

Approximate Measurements :

Length of Spoon : 2 1/2" (6.5cm)

Height of Pepper : 2 1/2" (6.5cm)

Height of Salt : 1 1/2" (4cm)

Diameter of Salt : 2" (5cm).
