Description

A Scottish Victorian period ships type stick barometer. A rosewood case with fine mother of pearl inlay and pewter stringing. An arched pediment with brass loop fixing as well as the rotating brass gimball. The main dial marked 'D Mc Gregor Glasgow & Greenock' and twin vernier scale slide adjusters. An original vernier adjuster knob. A mercury thermometer. Circa 1870.

D Mc Gregor of Glasgow and Greenock are recorded in Banfields' 'Barometer Makers and Retailers' book as working from 1856. They also had offices in London.
