Antique Pine Tabletop Specimen Collectors Cabinet

1900 - 1920
Description

A lovely tabletop pine chest of six drawers with the original stained finish and turned knobs, dating from the early 20th Century. It is a good quality piece and is solidly made with hand cut dovetail joints on all the drawers. This particular chest was once used to store a collection of eggs in and each drawer is graduated in size and some have their original dividers. There are the remains of some paper labels on the divisions and a few bird names can be made out including 'Heron', 'Gannet', and 'Barn Owl'. The wooden dividers can be easily removed or modified to make the chest useable for storing a variety of things.

It is in good original condition and displays very nicely. It has picked up a few minor knocks and scuffs over the years and there are a few marks and stains but nothing detrimental. Some dividers are missing and the top drawer is empty but all of the drawers open and close smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions or would like to know any internal measurements please ask. UK Delivery £15.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
