In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1920s.
There are the remains of some paper labels on the divisions and a few bird names can be made out including 'Heron', 'Gannet', and 'Barn Owl'. The wooden dividers can be easily removed or modified to make the chest useable for storing a variety of things.
It is in good original condition and displays very nicely. It has picked up a few minor knocks and scuffs over the years and there are a few marks and stains but nothing detrimental. Some dividers are missing and the top drawer is empty but all of the drawers open and close smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside.
