~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A very large and beautifully detailed and finished original antique French clock set by Barrard & Vignon of Paris. It is Baroque in style, standing on a base with hairy paw feet, on scroll brackets, reeded corner columns supporting the inverted bell top with a large urn. Acanthus swags and lions masks to the sides. Candelabra are conforming in style with four delicate branches.

The pendulum can be glimpsed swinging inside the case. The dial is gilt bronze mounted with twelve porcelain cartouches. It is complete with it's original finely fretted blue steel hands. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. The backplate has the Barrard and Vignon mark. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock available, please ask.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright just some minor marks and discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition just some chips next to the winding holes. Candelabra are slightly distorted.

Tardy lists the Parisian horlogers, Barrard et Vignon, as operating from rue Neuve Ménilmontant in 1860, and later from rue Commines (see Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, p. 31).

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
