Georgian New Hall Bat Print Landscape Coffee Can C.1805

18th century
Description

New Hall black bat printed porcelain coffee can, c.1805, slightly tapered with an oval ring handle. The main scene is of a rural landscape with an ancient tower and smaller buildings in the background with a girl standing to the fore holding a bundle of firewood under her arm. The scene is framed by trees either side and a fence running along the front. The other scene is simpler, of a small cottage set in the country. Black rim and band around the foot and inside the rim and graduated dots down the handle finishing with a black V at the terminal. Unmarked.

It measures 6.3cm (2 7/16") high, 6.7cm (2 1/8") rim to rim and 8.5cm (3 3/8") rim to handle. Condition is good. There is a short tight hairline in the glaze to the left of the handle amongst the tree, I wasn't able to get it to show in a photograph on the outside. Otherwise no damage or restoration and surface wear is light. The print is a little lighter in a few small areas.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
