Stunning antique French gilt brass boudoir clock.
It stands on its original integral base. Curved fretted panels backed with red velvet are inserted into the sides, with smaller ones to the front and rear. The pendulum is also gilded brass and is modelled as the sun god. The reflection of the pendulum swinging can be seen in the polished base of the the clock.

The design is beautifully bold and heavily moulded in gilded brass, well chased and finished. It is modelled in the round and the rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The clock would display very well on a table.

Dial is a beautiful enamel on copper, it is complete with its original delicately fretted brass hands and convex glass.
The French movement is of excellent quality and is in clean and fully working condition having been fully overhauled in our workshop. It is complete with original gilt brass pendulum. It also comes complete with two antique iron keys, quite possibly original as we found them hanging inside the case by the string still attached to them. One for winding and one for the Brocot adjustable suspension (winding hole for this is just above the 12 o'clock). It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell, click the video below to see and hear the movement!

The finish of the gilded brass is excellent, bright and clean. There are some minor areas of wear or discoloration. The dial is in excellent condition with just some slight nibbles around the winding holes. We have replaced the red velvet with new.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and keys. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
