In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
It has a superb rich patination with the original carved arch detail along the top of the front side and further lightly incised naive carvings. It has avoided being heavily overcarved and is a very pretty example. The inside is generally clean and tidy and the piece is strong and sturdy.
It is in very good condition and displays well. The hinges have been changed at some point, as has the internal lock and there is a very old repaired split in one of the top panels. There are various signs of age and use and general knocks and marks but nothing detrimental.
