Unusual Antique French Specimen Magnifying Set C.1900

Description

A very unusual French polished brass and steel magnifying set dating to c.1900.

With matching brass bases, each piece is heavy and weighted with an adjustable magnifying glass to inspect specimens on the turntable. The cogs to the side can be used to rotate the steel wheel.

I am unable to read the makers stamp which is present on this wheel, but you can see "Deposee" (trademark).

Excellent condition, the magnifying glass having a magnifier having a lens diameter measuring 2 1/2"; the bases to both pieces having a base diameter measuring 2 3/4". The entire magnifier extending completely upright measures 13" tall.
