Rare Antique Scottish Mauchline Postal or Letter Scales

Description

I have never owned one of these scales in Mauchline Ware before, I was pretty excited to find this set today. The wooden base is decorated all around the base with a black transfer border and the Rates of Postage are displayed on the decoupaged oval beautifully decorated with a floral and butterfly surround, a few little losses to this label, but still in very good condition for such a functional desk-top piece which would have been used regularly.

The brass including the five weights has been professionally polished to gleam, the scale being stamp " Warranted Accurate". A superb find in excellent condition with wear commensurate with age, dating to around 1880, Victorian in era.

Measuring 8" x 5" x 4" tall.
