'The Yare Lever' pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a Swiss jewelled stem-winding movement which is working nicely. This movement has been identified as a Meyer & Studeli piece. The watch would have been produced as a private label piece to be named 'The Yare Lever' and retailed by Aldred & Son, the Great Yarmouth jewellers.

The movement is protected by an inner cover which has a patch of scratching where it has been opened over the years.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and is in good condition, just light surface marks but nothing serious at all.

The watch glass has light marking but is very acceptable.

The dial is signed 'The Yare Lever', Aldred & Son, Great Yarmouth. . The business of Aldred & Son was listed as a jeweller, silversmith and optician, established in 1795. There is a patch of hairline cracks around number 12.

The watch comes with a single chain, 25cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a 'one penny model' fob. The 1844 Victoria One Penny Model was a model coin issued by Birmingham medallist Joseph Moore between 1844 and 1848, when the British Government were considering replacing the heavy copper coinage then in use.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
