This is only the second time in many years of being in the antiques business that I have come across this wonderful figural equestrian inkwell.
Beautifully cast in solid English brass, the inkwell stands on four horse hoof legs. The folding handle is in the form of a stirrup, Once this is folded down, the lid of the inkwell can be lifted to reveal the inkwell within, containing a removable glass liner. A wonderful belt and buckle design surrounds the horses head.
A lovely quality piece to display on the finest of desk-tops or a must-have for the avid equestrian collector. Victorian in era and dating to around 1880, it remains in excellent condition. The feet span 4 1/2'' and the inkwell to the top of the stirrup stands 7 1/2''.
