Unusual Edwardian Silver Stamp Case / Locket Birmingham 1908

A most unusual and very fine solid silver Locket style Stamp Case. Perfectly modelled the case is beautifully decorated with a lovely swirling design to the front and back and has an empty ''heart'' cartouch in the very centre of the front. Hinged at the bottom the case opens at the top and has a most attractive opening button combined with a loop to attach to a chain or a chatelaine. When opened two locket style compartments are revealed along with the clear and crisp hallmarks for the Birmingham Assay Office along with a date mark for 1908 along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the silver maker''s mark for Albert Ernest Jones.
