Fine Sterling Silver Oval Trinket Box Chester 1910

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A very fine sterling silver Trinket Box. Oval in shape, this lovely box has plain polished silver sides with a pretty protruding edge to the base and to the edge of the lid. The lid of the box has a lovely engine turned pattern with a circular empty cartouch in the very centre. The lid opens and closes perfectly.

Hallmarks are visible to one side of the box (slightly rubbed but still indentifiable - see images) for the Chester Assay Office with a date mark for 1910 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. The date mark is for 1910, along with the silver maker''s mark for George Nathan & Ridley Hayes. Partial marks are also clearly visible on the side of the lid.

The proportions of the box are perfect.

A lovely item in great antique collector''s condition ( there are a few very tiny dings on the base which we mention only for accuracy). Superior craftmanship is evident!
