Square Brass Lidded Coal Bucket by Tonks

Description

Late 19th century square Brass Lidded Coal Bucket by Tonks raised on finely detailed dragon’s feet. This piece retains the original inner liner with handles and the finial to the lid. It also retains the brass carrying handles to the sides and neo-classical detail to the tapering sides. The feet are all stamped with the registered mark No: 48608 and W.T.& S. (W Tonk & Sons). Tonks were one of the most prestigious of the Birmingham Brass Founders.

Circa: 1890
