Edwardian Silver Vesta Box / Match Striker Chester 1906

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A handsome and rare, Edwardian, solid silver Vesta Box / Match Striker. The box is a good heavy gauge silver. It is nicely plain and polished with a most attractive lip on the lid for opening - in a beaded design. The lid is hinged and opens and closes perfectly. When opened the interior reveals a nice gilt finish along with the clear hallmarks and maker''s marks for Chester 1906 by Jay Richard Attenborough Co Ltd, and Lion passant indicating sterling silver. The match striker section is to one side (see images).

Unusual and in great antique condition (there are two very tiny dings, one to the top and one to the bottom, commensurate with age and use, which we mention only for accuracy).
