A magnificent and very glamorous pair of English sterling silver - gilt (gold on sterling silver) ashtrays decorated with a stunning blue guilloche enamel without damage.

Each is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1929 together with the makers mark for Charles S Green.

The pair sit in their original presentation case; the silk lining to the lid printed with the retailer's mark for "Boodle and Dunthorne, Goldsmiths, Lord Street, Liverpool". This jeweller is still in business under the name Boodles and was established in 1798 and

steered by six generations of the same family for over two hundred years.

A very special find in superb condition each measuring 2 5/8" square x 1/2" tall; the case measuring 6 3/4" x 3 5/8" x 1".
