Description

Large late 19th.c. pale oak renaissance revival centre or library table by the celebrated English cabinet makers Edwards & Roberts c.1890. Superb quality, in solid oak throughout. 4’6" diameter octagonal top with a carved and moulded edge over four drawers within a superb carved Renaissance style apron featuring putti riding seahorses either side of a dolphin’s mask (note how the putti are shown holding different musical instruments, cups etc on each panel). Turned legs with a carved cup and cover device and bun feet. Joined with crossed carved and moulded stretchers with a segmented finial at the centre. Stamped for Edwards & Roberts on the top of one of the drawer fronts. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Top can be removed for delivery.
